Capcom Bringing PS1 Games To PSN...Eventually

Capcom's been dropping the ball in the department of easy money with their lack of releasing PS1 titles through PSN. Oh sure, in Japan they get Resident Evil 1-3, which sold quite handsomely in the build-up to Resident Evil 5, but aside from Street Fighter Alpha, there seems to be no love for those of us who don't live in the land of the rising sun. Well it looks like that may change in the (hopefully) not too distant future, as Capcom VP of Strategic Planning Christain Svensson mentioned in the Capcom-unity forums that "the first PS1 titles for PSN were submitted last week." Titles? Nice.
A look at the Japanese PSN store is probably a good indication of the first games that will be released here. In addition to the aforementioned Resident Evil games Capcom has also brought Dino Crisis to Japanese PS3 owners. But even with those games brought overseas, I still feel like Capcom would be missing a huge opportunity. Yes, those games were are very popular, but that also means that people have played them before. How about some of the more under appreciated Capcom PS1 games, like Rival Schools, Breath of Fire 3/4, Mega Man Legends, and of course Strider 2. They might even sell better than the big names like Resident Evil since a lot of gamers missed them the first time around.

sony of america has really..... dropped the ball on psone classics on the network. granted i still own all of my ps1 games on disc, but there's a lot of people who don't want to/can't afford to schill ebay prices for some really damn good games. i look at the japanese psone classics list, and laugh at all the money there is to be made here if scea would just add some of those titles.
not that nintendo is a paragon with their virtual console titles, but they're still supporting it a lot more than sony.
If I remember correctly the JP store also has the Metal Gear Solid series on there.
Which having never playing any of them prior to MGS4, would have been really useful if they were on our store as well -.-

Oh, there are a ton of games in the Japanese PSN store that aren't in the US one, including the first Metal Gear Solid (and Brave Fencer Musashi, Einhander, Jade Cocoon, Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure, SaGa Frontier 1/2, UmJammer Lammy, Wild Arms 2, and Xenogears). But since it's Capcom that's saying they're bringing games to PSN I was trying to focus on them.
But overall, yes, a lot more developers need to get on board releasing their PS1 titles through PSN outside of Japan. It's low risk since it's relatively cheap to make games available for download, so I really don't see a reason not to.
Part of me is sad that the breath of fire series is pretty much dead.
The rest of me played Dragon Quarter.
I don't own a PS3 but think that everyone should get a chance to play ...
The Misadventures of Tron Bonne!
Super fun!
