Xbox Live Community Watch - 2/27/09

This week brings a plethora of games to the Xbox Live community, giving me a great excuse to use the word plethora. Only a few games make the top grade, but hit the jump to see what else indie developers were up to this week.

Yay

  • Bored Meeting - 400 MS points. A game designed similarly to Chu Chu Rocket that tackles the exciting world of corporate management. On a white board you place arrows to direct funds to your goal, while up to 3 other players try to do the same. I wouldn't recommend it if you don't have anyone to play it with, but if you get 3 friends together and it's an absolute blast.
  • Tomato Blaster - 400 MS points. A Chip's Challenge type game where you must guide a tomato through some excellent puzzles to collect coins and unlock the exit. There's also a level edit mode to create your own stages. Just watch out for the evil mango.
  • Mania - 400 MS points. A puzzle game where you need to rotate a cube and change its color to match incoming shapes. Rotating the cube takes a while to get used to, but the fact that all sides of the level are reflective helps you figure out the right way to turn.
  • The Factory - 400 MS points. A robot is constantly on the move in a factory, and you need to move boxes to clear a path so that he can escape.

Ay?

  • Spirit Whirled - 800 MS points. A basic platformer where you guide a ghost through levels collecting spirit fragments to unlock the door at the end of the level. It's a really fun game, but the high price point keeps it from being a definite recommendation.
  • Battle Bubbles - A fun multiplayer game where you need to collect blocks to cover the game map with your color. To make things more exciting, you can also steal blocks from your opponents if you're quick enough. The controls are a little loose though, so don't be surprised if you lose you're first several matches.
  • 2win Ghost - 200 MS points. Guide two ghosts in love through levels so that they meet each other at the exit. The catch is that you are controlling each ghost with one of the analog sticks. You're brain will get quite the workout from trying to control both ghosts at the same time.
  • Puzz XXI - 200 MS points. I'm not a fan of sliding block puzzles, but if you are then this is the game to get. It even has a multiplayer mode with power-ups to mess up your opponent.
  • DrumKit - 200 MS points. More of a toy than a game, DrumKit lets you use your Rock Band or Guitar Hero World Tour drums to play along with any song in your music library saved to your console's hard drive. You can customize which drums make which sounds, and there's even a metronome for practicing.
  • Puzzle Pandemonium - 200 MS points. Hey look, it's Tetris Attack/Puzzle League. It's still a good clone of a great game though, and since it's normally only found on Nintendo systems, this is a good chance for Microsoft fans to give it a try.
  • Jigsaw Puzzle Express - If you like jigsaw puzzles, then this is a good game to check out. 100 puzzles with various sizes and difficulty settings for each puzzle. Only jigsaw fanatics need apply, but they'll get a lot of enjoyment out of this one.
  • X Fart - 400 MS points. A disturbingly in-depth lesson about farting. It has a dictionary of farts complete with sounds and descriptions, a number of quizzes about farts, fart jokes, and even a soundtrack made of songs about farts. It's worth checking out just to see that someone was so dedicated to the subject.

Nay

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
