Wootini's Weekly Animal Crossing Diary

RUU_0112.JPG

Dear Diary,

It's beginning to look a lot like springtime! Well, I don't know if that's really what the Northern Lights signify, but they sure looked pretty. And the day after I first saw them in the evening, I noticed that the trees were looking a little greener. I never understood why the trees didn't lose their leaves like they do in the real world, but I guess it's magic. Anyway, the green leaves are a little brighter now, which means that screw the groundhog's prediction — spring's on it's way!

(I hope!)

So on Valentine's Day, imagine my surprise when I received chocolates in the mail from Wendy, of all people. First she's the one waiting outside to give me by birthday present last week, and now she's my Valentine? I barely speak to her half as much as I do Rodeo or Fang, so what's up with that? I guess she likes when I play hard to get. Then again, maybe she doesn't, because a couple days later, she told me she was thinking about leaving town. I told her not to, but I guess I wasn't very convincing, because by the end of the week, my self-proclaimed BFF was gone for good. Huh. It's too bad. She was kind of cute and adorable. For a sheep, anyway.

I put the chocolates on the table next to the birthday cake she gave me. Hm. Now that winter's ending, I suppose I should switch out my Snowman furniture. I'm thinking about the Cabin set. I've already got quite a few pieces from it. It'll be a shame to see my HRA score go down, though!

Nook remodeled his shop and listened to our suggestions, reopening as Nook & Go again. Crappy selection, but better hours. Sure, it sucks to only get three pieces of furniture to choose from and just one wallpaper and carpet, but at the same time, he's open until 1:00 in the morning, which just can't be beat! I have a busy life, and can't always get my shopping done by 9:00 every night. I'm just glad he asked. If I'd had to deal with that the whole time, I might have gotten frustrated and quit going to town like my bf did. (He's back now, because of the new hours...)

Oh, I almost forgot to mention, there was a fishing tournament on Valentine's Day, too. I offered Chip a sea bass I'd caught, but it paled in comparison to the 86 inch tuna he told me Olivia caught. So I said forget it. The only way I could win would be to catch a bigger tuna, and I'd much rather sell it to Nook for the bells than have it end up in Chip's belly. Besides, I already have the fishing tournament trophy from the last one. I don't need to win another. Although the next day, I did get a letter telling me I'd won the "good sport" award. Whatever. It doesn't come with a trophy, so who cares?

My friend Rob sent me a belated birthday gift, all the way from his distant town, and I was surprised to find a golden fishing rod. I don't know why everyone in his town only talks about my fishing, though. It's not like I don't do anything else. Anyway, it was a wonderful present, and I put it to use right away. I sort of feel bad for using a golden tool that I didn't earn myself, but it doesn't seem to do that much, so it's okay. I don't have any hard evidence, but from using it, it seems that the fish are just more attracted to the golden bait than the regular kind. Then again, it might just be my imagination. I'm still desperately clogging up my town with trees and flowers in the hopes of getting that golden watering can for having a perfect town rating... and still don't have enough green... crap!

One last piece of business. I went into the town hall this week to donate more money to the town fund, and Pelly told me that they had collected enough money now to build another bridge in town. I was given three choices of spots where it could go. Thankfully, my town layout is pretty good (at least compared to some others I've seen), so I actually don't think we need another bridge. I'd rather they save the money for something more cool like the fountain I've seen or the windmill I've heard about. But I picked a spot, and then told my bf to do the same. He misunderstood, and picked a different spot, though, so we'll see where they end up building the thing. I hasn't gone up yet. I just want that fountain!

Wow! That's really nice of Rob to have given you a Golden item! What does a Golden fishing rod do, exactly?
