Wootini's Weekly Animal Crossing Diary
Dear Diary,
This week in Narnia felt kind of anti-climactic. Now that I've paid off my mortgage, there isn't really much else compelling to do. I've now turned my attention to donating to the Town Fund in order to get the fountain and whatever other assorted goodies are available. Oh, and I've decided that I want to try and finally get my town exactly perfect. Unfortunately, Pelly keeps telling me that I get a barely passing grade, and need more green. If I check at night, Phyllis gets a little more specific, telling me I need more trees. I think I've got too many trees, but I've been trying to space them out more evenly. I remember being able to make my last two towns perfect, so I don't know why this one is giving me so much trouble!
Well, Pompom's replacement moved in, but unfortunately, Tutu looks like more of the same cuteness. I don't know why cute animals keep moving in. I'm nothing but nice to my grumpy ones, and the sarcastic ones, and I keep driving the cute ones out. Why do they keep coming?! Its maddening! Also, I don't really like her because she's out of proportion to everyone else. Tutu's like a giant or something. It's kind of creepy looking. Oh well... hopefully she won't stay long.
It's getting harder and harder to find new fossils, but I managed to complete the mammoth and the pteradon this week. I can't wait for the seasons to change, because I miss catching new fish and bugs for the museum. It's been the same types for a long time now, it seems. Although before I get too eager for spring to come, I should probably check a guidebook and make sure I've caught all the different varieties of winter fish and bugs!
I didn't even think Groundhog Day was a real holiday. But it is. Now, you'd think that maybe a groundhog would come to town and there'd be a little game where you dig him up or something to get prizes, but no. Narnia celebrates Groundhog Day by having Mayor Tortimer stand outside of Town Hall and give you a Resetti model. Huh. That's kind of cool, I guess. It can go in the basement next to my other two models I've collected. I never really thought of Resetti as a groundhog, though. I always thought he was the freakin' devil!
As far as visitors go, this week it was just Wendell. Poor guy was starving again, but I honestly didn't have the wherewithal to go fishing for some rare delicacy for him. I just gave him a dace and called it a day. Got a street corner 1, but I'm not going to do anything with it. I don't like laying tiles all around my town. I prefer the natural look. Even though all the walking around has torn up the grass so my town looks very dirty. I wish there was a way to get the grass to grow back...
One day as I went to leave the shop, Nook stopped me to ask me a little customer service survey. Well, it was really just the one question, asking if I preferred variety, balance or good hours. I know if I'd picked variety, the store would've stayed this massive size so he could sell all kinds of different stuff. In retrospect, I probably should've gone with balance so he'd have decent selection, but only slightly longer hours. But instead I went with good hours so he'd stay open super-late again. I liked it best when he was open until 1am so I could play whenever. Because no matter how many goods you have, I mind when you close so early! Also, my bf is more likely to visit town when Nook is open late. So he'd better keep his word and start coming back more often!
In miscellaneous news, Wendy decided to stop calling me "boss" and start calling me "pookie." I never liked "boss," so I welcomed any kind of change, but "pookie" is a little cutesy for me. Ah well, it sounds okay coming from her, I guess. I also decided to check out the point exchange system in Nook's shop and bought myself a Yoshi egg with my points. I don't buy much in Nook's so I don't have many points, but the Yoshi egg is kind of awesome. Can't imagine what cool stuff might become available when I get a few thousand points! It's just going to take me forever to get there... I also played another round of hide-and-seek, which I always enjoy. There should be more games like this to play in town. Just so there's more variety in the activities. Fishing and digging up fossils can get kind of old after a while. Also, I'm getting really frustrated with Redd. This week he had another painting I already have. It's either a duplicate or a forgery. My museum walls are still mostly bare! I'm gonna kill that stupid fox someday... Maybe Nook knows someone I can call to take care of that...

plant flowers EVERYWHERE if you want perfect town with less trees. i gridded my town and looked at a tutorial, so it went by pretty fast. you should do what patches did, though. just plant flowers against the town walls to satisfy the outside acres, and try and spread a bunch in discrete areas in the middle of your town. that will make it less likely that they'll get trampled. if you don't have enough, buy out your friends. there are a total of 25 16x16 acres, so if you don't want to grid it out, just try and eyeball it. but you NEED flowers in almost all areas to get a perfect town.
and nintendo sent out a mass email saying they have no intentions of fixing the problem with the grass. i'm really bummed about it. everyone should call and complain. :(((
I just got my golden fishing rod for catching all 40 kinds of fish! I've been selling everything i could get my hands on so now my town has a very lovely windmill!
I guess i'll try working on a perfect town now
yeah i keep getting the c-/d+ grade from pelly too. in my gc and ds towns i was getting jacobs ladders with the quickness. i dunno why this one is so finicky...
and do any of your townsfolk contribute to planting flowers? after a while in my ds town everyone started planting flowers on their own, and in this game they make me do all the work. ugh.
well, three flowers sprout a day, but i have yet to see animals planting flowers in my perfect town.
in fact, on another board i visit someone was totally pissed because they planted like 3 hybrids outside of a neighbors home and the neighbor took all 3 hybrids in doors. they thought a visitor stole them, but apparently it was one of their animals. now i keep my hybrids away from houses that aren't my own. :/
