Video: How To Unlock All Street Fighter 4 Characters
My biggest pet peeve of late has to be fighting games that have unlockable characters. Just as an example, let's look at Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Leading up to the game's release, Nintendo heavily hyped the game based upon some of the third party characters that we would be seeing the series for the first time, Solid Snake and Sonic. But in order to actually play as these characters players had to run through that rather long story mode. While these unlockable characters act as a great reward for single players, who's actually buying Smash Bros. for a single player experience? A significant portion of players will never look at single-player content of a fighter unless they absolutely have to. While the recently released Street Fighter 4 still requires players to run through every character in single player mode to unlock new characters, someone at Capcom realized what a drag this is and let the "cheat" seen above slip into the game. Those of you planning Street Fighter-themed parties this weekend best get cracking on unlocking the rest of the characters, because you know someone is going to bitch when they can't play as Dan.

That's interesting because I vastly prefer a fighting game where there are things to unlock. It gives me a reason to keep playing and also sharpens my skills in the process.
While this is good for getting extra characters... you just know people will use it to kick your ass online every time
(if this game has online VS.... i don't have the game, so no idea.)
Yea keeps you playing, not to mention, thats not really a cheat as much as it is common sense to unlock all the characters quickly lol :)
Three things.
1.) Street Fighter 4 inspired theme parties? Inspired idea. Tomorrow I shall do just this.
2.) Seth (the final boss char.) is all about the cheap moves. He makes M. Bison back in the day look like a stand up guy.
3.) Does anybody know how to unlock alternate costumes? I know they exist as I've seen them before...but I haven't seen anything since.
Sadly, you can't unlock the costumes; you have to buy them in packs of five as they're released over the next month. I wouldn't mind them offering them to buy if there was SOME way to get them within the game (even if it was really hard) but no dice. Of course, I've got the first pack and I'm foaming for the next one (Rose in a hoodie? Hot!) so I guess I can only complain so much.
Too bad this doesn't help me at all with unlocking Gouken...Im sure I'll get him eventually...I CAN'T GIVE IT UP! I MUST TRIUMPH OR DIE!
I agree with Branovices. I loved the single player element of SSBB, it added an extra challenge that I think was well executed. It gives you an opportunity to get involved more and adds to the overall playability and challenge of the game.
Wow, I hate games that don't have any unlockables (Yes I'm talking to you MK vs. DC).
Without unlockable characters and stuff the game gets boring really quickly in my opinion.
also, this video didn't help much.
C. Viper unlocks Cammy
Ryu unlocks Sakura
Sakura unlocks Dan
Abel unlocks Fei Long
Chun-Li unlocks Gen
M. Bison unlocks Rose
All starting characters unlock Seth
and then to unlock Akuma and Gouken you need to do more than just beat the game.
Akuma - after unlocking everyone, beat the game with 2 perfects, 2 ultra finishes and no loses and you'll fight him at the end. Beat him and he's unlocked.
Gouken - almost exactly the same as Akuma except you need at least 2 perfects and 3 ultra finishers. Again you'll fight him at the end and if you beat him he's unlocked.
I read that for Akuma and Gouken you need to use Ryu, but I don't know if that's true or not.
yes its you hav to use ryu to get them both
I have completed the arcade as Zangief and ken but this doesn't unlock anyone? Is this right?
Dan is such a faggot.
Dan is such a f**got
