Persona PSP... The Feature Listing

p.jpg

Atlus is Love. I will say it now, again, and FOREVER. Yes, I love you Atlus. Now, please announce the Persona 1 remake for the US. Plzkthz. My desire to see a localized version aside, the title is shaping up to be a nice translation.

Atlus Japan released a nice list of changes and features that will be included in the recreation. Not only will it feature updated graphics, it appears that it will contain extra content too:

  • New animated movies done by studio Kamikaze Douga.
  • Rearranged soundtrack done by Shin Megami Tensei composer Shoji Meguro. Yumi Kawamura who sang in Persona 3 will do vocal tracks for Persona.
  • Supports 16:9 widescreen mode with a new user interface.
  • Additional dungeon floors have been added to the Sebek Chapter (main story) and Snow Queen Chapter. Watch out for new elements and tricky gimmicks.
  • Rebalanced gameplay with a tweaked encounter rate.
  • Considered to be more "user friendly" since players can pick the level of difficulty.
  • Battle loading times are 2/3rds faster compared to the original. During enemy encounters animations can be skipped. Sounds similar to Persona 2: Eternal Punishment.
  • Extra save points are added as well as a quick save feature.
  • A revised city map with a top down view and highlighted landmarks. The original Persona had a simple 3D over world map similar to Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne.

This needs to be brought over, ASAP! While they're at it, both parts of Persona 2 would be nice...

Dilemma! I had gone back to play Persona 1 (Japanese version with six hundred random encounters per square inch) so as to better appreciate references to it in the Persona 2 games, but the sheer number of battles and their relative slowness compared to those in the sequels have made me drag my feet. And I've always been tempted by the PSP. Now I don't know whether to keep on playing the original, or patiently wait for the remake to be released.

@atolm: I share your pain. I think I'm going to hold out. I've been playing Super Mario RPG for the first time (yeah, I'm behind), then I'll hit Valkyrie Chronicles.

I'm really hoping that they'll do it - based on how well Persona 3/4 have sold, I'd be surprised if they didn't.

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
