IGF Finalist Night Game Announced As WiiWare Exclusive
Creator of Knytt and Knytt Stories Nicklas Nygren (also known as Nifflas) took to his forum to break some news about his upcoming game, the IGF nominated Night Game: It's going to be a WiiWare exclusive! Although he didn't sound quite as excited about it.
Although I'm the director, game and level designer, it's up to Nicalis [the publisher] to make decisions about what consoles that the games will be released on. Now it's announced that Night Game will be Wii exclusive, so there will not be a PC release of it. I'm really sorry for this, I know this will let most of you down a lot! I hope you can understand it was not my decision, I really wanted it to be released on PC as well.I've known about the discussions to eventually make the game Wii exclusive, but I haven't been allowed to tell anything about it. This is however one of the explanations that I started to keep so silent about Night Game, and disabled the donations option from my website. While I hoped for a PC release as it was part of the initial plans, I don't regret that I took the chance to get a game out on the Wii, it's an important step for me towards getting to live off what I like to do.
Nobody wants to disappoint fans, but hopefully this exclusivity deal will end up boosting the game's profile and being a good thing for all involved. Well, except PC owners who refuse to play the Wii. They're pretty much left out to dry, at least until the "exclusivity" expires.
The game is described as "an action puzzle game that focuses on providing players with an ambient gameplay experience unlike any other." For a quick look, head over to GoNintendo for an exclusive trailer of the game. Definitely looks like it will be worth spending some Wii Points on when it releases later this year.

I've been a huge fan of Nifflas since the release of Within A Deep Forest years back. This is distressing. I have to buy a Wii to play it after waiting for so long? No, thank you. Some of us are completely broke and rely on great, free games like Knytt Stories to entertain us.
I LOVE the Knytt series. I always thought that the Knytt games would be an amazing addition to the WiiWare lineup, but a NEW game, that's just as exciting. :D
