Bioshock Dev's Next Game Is "AAA Action Packed Multiplayer Title"

573.jpg

2K Boston's last game, Bioshock, was such a stellar single player experience, I don't think most people missed having multiplayer at all. Still, in a few job listings on Gamasutra Jobs, the developer looks to be correcting that for an upcoming title, putting out notices that include both a Multiplayer Lead Designer and Lead Multiplayer Engineer.

As for the game, a few specifics came with the listings. The game will be a first person shooter, made with the Unreal Engine 3. It also looks like it will be designed as multiplatform from the start, as the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC are all mentioned, although there's nothing about the Wii. It's not clear to me whether this will be a multiplayer only game, or just a facet of a larger single player game. The type of mulitplayer isn't mentioned either, so we don't know whether to expect co-op, deathmatch, or the whole gamut. Hopefully it will be more than plasmids and teabagging.

Since newly formed 2K Marin is taking the reigns for Bioshock 2, we can assume that this will not be part of that game, unless it's some kind of spin-off: Bioshock 2: Arena perhaps? I'm sure we'll hear more about the game before too long, and after the good will they've garnered from their last title, I think that we can trust the developer to put a unique spin on the traditional multiplayer game.
