Self-Serving NY Politician Advances Yet Another Game Bill

For the second time in three years, Manhattan Assemblyman Keith L.T. Wright has put forth a bill aiming to protect minors from negative racial stereotypes and bad language in video games. A similar bill from Wright failed in 2007, unlike a 2008 measure that mandated that game packaging display ratings and demanded consoles implement some form of parental control.
That bill passed unchallenged because it was entirely redundant. Days and tax money wasted to create a totally unnecessary law that changed nothing except the public perception of the politicians who created that law.
So we can't really be surprised that Assemblyman Wright has tried again to make a name for himself fighting a battle that's already won. His bill:
Prohibits the sale to minors of certain rated video games containing a rating that reflects content of various degrees of profanity, racist stereotypes or derogatory language, and/or actions toward a specific group of persons.
As long as this language remains abstract, it mandates nothing new. Games with hardcore language are already rated as such, and their sale to minors is already prohibited. Racist language and stereotypes, while certainly something one could protest, aren't likely to be found in, say, Animal Crossing: City Folk. Gang violence and its ilk are typically found, Assemblyman Wright, on games that would receive a "stronger" rating in any event. Unless there's a cache of games somewhere that lacks any adult or violent content yet still manages to be profane and/or racially stereotyped.
Hello Kitty: Bitch from the Streetz, maybe?
NY Bill Would Shield Minors from Racist Stereotypes and Profanity in Games [GamePolitics]

Democrats try to legislate away anything that anyone might find offensive, anything regarding race and try to intrude into your personal life by telling you what is and what isnt good for you.
Republicans try to legislate away anything deemed immoral (including gays, depending on the republican).
Now, more than ever we need to WAKE UP. Just because you are gay does not mean you have to vote for a democrat and does not mean that all republicans are evil.
Do your homework and think outside the box. We need to start supporting reasonable people with reasonable views and forget about party affiliations.
If we dont, ideologues like this will continue to try to to legislate our lives.
Ok.. getting off my big pink soapbox now :-)
In Elder Scrolls, black people have higher strength. That's a racist stereotype, we can't sell that here!
