Oh Snaps: Greenburg Responds To Hirai, Busts On NPDs, Sony's Mother

Did anybody just hear that strange snapping noise? I believe it was the sound of someone getting told.
Earlier this week, Sony Computer Entertainment CEO Kaz Hirai spouted some hilariously questionable statements about the longevity of Microsoft's Xbox 360 or what he views as the lack there of. Hirai went on to say that, "there's no way that at the end of a life cycle our competition is going to have a higher install base."
This lead Torrence Davis of The Bit Bag to contact Aaron Greenberg, Director of Product Management for Xbox 360, and get his thoughts on Hirai's comments...
This sounds like an old hardware company that's comfortable with its market position. That complacent attitude is out of touch with where the industry and consumer is today. This generation won't be won over just hardware specs, but who can out-innovate when it comes to online and software. This is the kind of stuff that's in our DNA, and frankly moves the console war onto our home court.Ouch, Hirai just got blinded by math! While it's still a possibility that Sony could turn things around, every day that goes by is making that task more and more difficult. I love my PS3 and all, but I can see why the loss of big name exclusives and the still ridiculous price tag aren't appealing to the average customer. Either way, watching both of these corporate figureheads duke it out in a bloody battle for second place is almost as entertaining as playing their games.
I'm confident we will outsell the PS3 throughout the entire generation by providing more innovation and building the best and broadest games library while growing our entertainment experiences on the leading online network. With a U.S. install base lead now of more than 7 million units (according to NPD), I can't imagine any scenario where the PS3 can catch up with us. In fact, even if you doubled the current PS3 sales and Xbox 360 remained flat, they couldn't close the gap until 2014.

wait, what? Two important executives in rival companies claiming their product is superior and the other inferior?! What is marketing via news outlets coming to?
It sounds to me like the PS3 has been backed into a corner and now it's just swinging its arms hoping for a bitch slap somewhere.
All I can say is good luck.
I love this, I hope it goes on for a long time.
I want a PS3, but its way too expensive, I even waited for the Xbox to go down in price to what it is now (extra bonus that it increased the HD to 60), also there arent as many games that I want that are exclusive to the PS3.
Finaly, what is that pictue about? I'm amused yet also intruiged.
Should i be worried that i know what movie that 'top that' is taken from?
Teen Witch... I've seen it like 3000 times. I'm not embarrassed.
Super sonic idiotic... I could go on.
Anyone that can recite/perform Top That gets a month's supply of free hugs from me.
Who remembers in Teen Witch when witch and her boy crush music montage themselves into that shack and get nasty?
