Does Anyone Not Own A Playstation 2?

Fifty Million
Think of that number for a second, where have you ever seen fifty million of anything in your entire life? Let's look at that typed out: 50,000,000. Aside from Beanie Baby collectors, nobody can imagine having that many of one item. Well, if you're the United States of America, then you have fifty million Playstation 2 consoles within your border. The Playstation blog announced today that the second in Sony's console trilogy has sold an astounding number of units since its birth way back in the year 2000.This translates to roughly half the households in America being in possession of a PS2. On top of that, over 500 million games have been sold while the PS2 continues to dominate the time of gamers over any current gen system.
In all honesty, even though I own all the current generation of systems, and I do have a backwards compatible PS3, I spend the most time on my PS2. This weekend I picked up a few games I missed when they first came out a few years ago and have spent much of this week in standard def gaming heaven. Even with the sales figures of the Wii, I think it is impossible that we will ever see a console that matches the PS2 in terms of quality and longevity. Even if you go back now and play some of the older games on the system, you'll be surprised to see the visuals hold up and gameplay sometimes even surpasses what we see on today's consoles. Call me a sucker for nostalgia, but I never see myself ever being without a PS2.
So do you all still play your old console? Oh and does anybody remember The Bouncer? I don't know why, but I still will play through that game every few months
PS2 Sells Over 50 Million Units in North America, Breaks Console Sales Record [Playstation Blog]

Both my American and my Japanese PS2s are still hooked up to my TV, as is my Dreamcast and my Sega Saturn. And my 360, Wii and PS3.
There are a lot of wires behind my TV >_>
They NEED to make Bouncer into a co-op game. I can't believe it wasn't in the first place.
YES. I Love the bouncer, played through that thing so many times lol
I still use the PS2 as my primary DVD player.
Sion from The Bouncer is still hot...
I still cannot believe 50 million... thanks for calling that to my attention.
Shockingly, I've never owned a PS2. I bought a PSX a year or so after PS2 launched and by the time I was ready for another console I ended up buying a used 360 from a friend who was upgrading to the newly released Elite.
well, over the years, I owned something like 5 PS2....like I don't have one at the moment, but surely will get another one soon....so 50 millions yeah....but this number don't really mean anything...
The Bouncer was my first PS2 game and it is one of only a few that has survived the trading in at Game Stop (along with Kingdom Hearts and the Final Fantasies).
I've never owned a PS2 or a PS1.
I was a little late to the party getting a PS2. Not late enough, unfortunately, to score one of those max-tacky silver ones. I wanted to walk the streets of New York like, "My book-sized PS2 totally shuts down your gold clutch, bitch."
Funny, the blog over at www.gamespite.com also professed their love for The Bouncer a month or so ago. I am also a closet Bouncer fan. It's a shame it was so panned when it was released.
Oh and I should mention I recently plonked down $60 on Amazon for a factory-sealed copy of The Bouncer for my collection. Yes, I might have a problem.
I love my ps2. I don't feel this way about my xbox or my x360 either. Maybe it's the amazingly small size, the huge library of titles which is big enough to include beloved oddballs like Katamari Damacy and Shadow of the Colossus (which I admire even though I'm incapable of actually defeating any of the damn colossi)... It can fall off the shelf, the disk flies out of the machine and goes bouncing across the room, but THE GAME IS STILL RUNNING. It plays DVDs and CDs and doesn't care if I burned them myself (but xbox's all turn up their little noses and tell me the disk must be "dirty" or something - hmph!).
I'm still buying games for, and playing, my ps2.
Isn't it worth noting that most of us are on our second or third PS2s due to lousy lasers wearing out. I bet half those 50 mil PS2s are in landfill.
Never gonna get it, never gonna get it, never gonna get it :)
But i did buy a PS3 :)
