Child's Play Rings Up $1.4 Million For Charity

In a post on attached to yesterday's comic, Penny Arcade's Jerry "Tycho" Holkins revealed this year's Child's Play charity total: $1,434,377. That beats last year's $1.3 million and sets a new record for the charity. Pretty impressive, especially considering the lion's share of the effort came after the economy hit the skids earlier this year.
In gratitude, Holkins had this to say:
Being the voice of a successful charity is actually quite strange, because typically when one is in this position they must constantly gesture at the machinations of a grim universe, and say this, this is what we are up against. There is never any need, here. You never give me an opportunity to indulge in dark imagery. You simply make light.
Since being established in 2003, the Child's Play has raised almost $5 million for children's hospitals around the country, through cash donations, fund raisers, and donations of games and game systems. I think that earns a pretty big round of applause for everyone involved.

That's fantastic news! Well done to all the guys and gals involved. I'll be sure to continue my support this year coming.
Even talking about a charity the guy can't not sound pompous.
Sheesh.
