Videos: Final Fantasy XIII And Versus XIII DKS3713 Trailers
Courtesy of another Japanese DVD release, we have a couple more extended looks at the pair of upcoming Final Fantasy games, XIII and Versus XIII. In video above, we can see that FFXIII seems to put a strong emphasis on themes of nature, war, and motorcycles, while after the break, FFVersusXIII takes a more modern approach, with its sleek luxury cars, ennui, and Zac Efron hair. In reality, we still don't really know much about these games, much less how we're going to play them, as both videos looked rather prerendered. Regardless, the atmosphere in both is intriguing and will keep my interest piqued, at least until that demo of FFXIII hits early next year (I hope).

These look AMAZING.
I know it's futile to argue about matters of taste, but FF XII was nowhere near a "disaster". Sure, it had it's flaws, but there are people who really loved it nevertheless, you know? I'm one of them.
The biggest problem about FF XII was the anticipation everybody had towards it. It was supposed to be the culmination of the series, a perfect game that had the best developers one could get. Alas, the higher your hopes are, the harder you fall.
That's exactly why I'm not expecting FF XIII (13) to change my life forever (just to rock it a bit, maybe). I have no fears that I wouldn't love it - there's not a single FF-game I have played and hated - but I'll still spare myself from disappointment by not putting too much anticipation on the game.
After Cpt Camps adventures or FF12 I'm now very weary of the FF but this started creeping in when FF11 was released.
From watching both videos I would say that FF13 vs interests me more it reminds me of FF8 for some reason Techy-but-magical look.
Some of the worst art direction i've ever seen. Blerrgh.
I didn't really care about Versus 13 before but now I think it looks awesome. I hope it doesn't let me down like FF12.

Versus sure is a huge sausagefest and a source of infinite shipping. Let's see... Four good guys and most likely at least one bishounen bad guy (the man with a white hood?) makes... *counts* ten different pairings! :P
It`s the same again... and again... AND AGAIN! Emo-esque boys and so on. NAH~Not for me. I am waiting for the real NEW Final Fantasy.

Seriously, though, I would like a few shots of actual gameplay. I'm rather tired of Squeenix showing 95% cinema and little else.
I'm seeing this series reach back to FF8 in a few ways. The one guy on the bike looks really close to Seifer, there's the mysterious moon element, some of the vehicle designs look pretty similar, etc.
Some of the kanji they show are readable, but most of it isn't, and I probably haven't learned them anyway, so there goes my hopes of learning a bit about the setting.
Kung Fu Monkey: The orb in the sky isn't a moon, it's Cocoon, the technologically advanced haven of the humans. The actual world below is considered dangerous wilderness to humans.
S-E has told us at least that much about the setting, but they could start revealing a bit more in my opinion.
Versus XIII on Playstation 3 "ONLY" worldwide? Gross. Hopefully that changes.
