Katamari, Iron Man, Saturday Night Fever, And Alan Probe Hit IPhone, IPod Touch

It's been a pretty big week for iPhone/iPod games, as a slew of new, fairly impressive looking titles have hit the service. First up is i Love Katamari from Namco, forcing you once again to help the diminutive Prince of the Cosmos to roll up as much as possible to help rebuild the universe, this time using the accelerometer in the iPhone. There are four modes: Story (find and roll up the King's requested object), Time Attack (roll up as much as possible in a limited amount of time), Exact Size Challenge (try and match a requested size as closely as possible), and Eternal Mode (just roll up stuff forever, or at least until your battery dies). i Love Katamari costs $7.99.

For fans of more traditional action games, Iron Man: Aerial Assault from Paramount Digital Entertainment lets you get behind the armor as Tony Stark tries destroy to a 12-level barrage of enemy aircraft. Based on last summer's hit movie, the game uses both the accelerometer and multi-touch controls, and looks really impressive for an iPhone game. Paramount also presents Saturday Night Fever: Dance!, based on a movie just a tad older than Iron Man. The rhythm based game features disco-era appropriate music such as YMCA (The Village People), Shake Your Groove Thing (Peaches and Herb), Car Wash (Rose Royce) and Love Machine (The Miracles). Iron Man and Saturday Night Fever are $7.99 and $4.99 respectively.

Lastly, we've mentioned this game a couple of times in it's web incarnation, but Alan Probe: Amateur Surgeon is venturing off of AdultSwim.com and onto the iPhone/iPod Touch. The iPhone version features all 30 of the levels from all three parts of the game's previous incarnation -- 27 regular levels and 3 secret ones -- converted over to touch controls. Alan Probe will set you back $4.99.

As usual, the user reviews on the applications are generally mixed and confusing, and it doesn't appear that any are providing free demos. If you've splurged on one or more of these and have an opinion, let us know! All are currently available through iTunes or through the Application Store app on your iPhone or iPod Touch. All links below will open iTunes and go to the iTunes store.
