Good Old Games Gives Adventure Classics For Free

When I wrote my initial beta impressions of Good Old Games I had asked them if there were any plans for new pricing levels beyond $5.99 and $9.99. Well it looks like GOG has finally added a new pricing tier, with classic adventure games Beneath a Steel Sky and Lure of the Temptress being made available for download absolutely free of charge. That's free, as in, why aren't you downloading them right now?
Both games are point-and-click adventures from Revolution Studios. And while Revolution Studios is more well known for their Broken Sword series, both of these games appear to be quite excellent. I mean, Beneath the Steel Sky takes place in a cyberpunk vision of the Austrailian outback, which I can't even begin to describe how warm and fuzzy that makes me feel.
What makes this even more promising is that it shows Revolution Studios is willing to support GOG. I've been hearing a lot of good things about the Broken Sword games for a long time now, and have been itching for a chance to play them. And now with Revolution Studios' support, it looks like GOG is the place that will finally let me play Broken Sword. Although I suppose I could wait until next year's release of Broken Sword: Director's Cut on the Wii and DS, but if given the opportunity I'd rather play the original version. As for the new free pricing tier, my guess is that it's only going to get limited use. Mostly I see it used for opportunities like this, where GOG will release some less well-known games from a newly signed developer for free to build anticipation for the developer's other games. Well I've got now problem with that, free games are always appreciated, especially when they're from the great yet vanishing point-and-click adventure genre.
Free Games: Beyond the Steel Sky and Lure of the Temptress [GOG]

Thanks for the headsup!
Would be interested in playing Beneath a Steel Sky again, been a very long time....

Dude, both games were free of charge for quite some time now!
I think with GOG you get them preconfigured for XP and Vista, though.
... but you don't need them preconfigured for XP/Vista! Both run flawlessly in ScummVM, which is pretty idiot-proof. In fact, you can download both games from the ScummVM project page.
Don't get me wrong, I love GoG, but this is kind of a weird announcement.
