World (of Warcraft)'s First Level 80... In 27 Hours!
World of Warcraft has never really appealed to me. I have one job already, so why would I need another? I know that not all (maybe even not most) agree with me on this, and I'm willing to live with that.
Now, the release of the expansion The Lich King has been out for less than two days, and player Nymh has already hit the illustrious level 80 cap. Yes, I know, Impossible right? In an interview with MMO Champion, Nymh explained how he did it:
The biggest problem was to find a spot with enough monsters to grind without too much downtime ... I spent some time on beta servers and eventually found the crypt in Drakil'ji Ruins (Grizzly Hills), I think that's one of the only place in Wrath of the Lich King where monsters repop in about 30 seconds, mobs here are also neutral and it makes grinding a little safer.I also had to optimize my downtimes and decided to level with a healer out of party, Pavelomm was nice enough to spend the last 27 hours healing me without taking any XP and he obviously played a huge role in the process.
Somehow, I'm not really all that shocked. I really hope that Nymh got a little more out of his vacation than an achievement, larger numbers and slightly more filled progress bars.

YAWN ... talk about taking the fun out of the game. I guess its an accomplishment but I think he could have found something more accomplished to accomplish with all that time... I'm just sayin'
Good for him. I just hope he didn't burn all his matches.
Good for that guy, he set a goal and went for it. I'm sure the 15 minutes of fame will be cool, but it must be a nice feeling of accomplishment to have actually pulled it off.
Well, good for him because that's certainly quite the feat, but this story is an amazingly telling example of why I don't enjoy MMOs.
I hope he gets a hook through the face.
Same with any and all MMO players.
I know that the phrase "get a life" is such a big cliché nowadays, but sometimes it pains me how much some people need to get rubbed in the face by it.
GET A LIFE GET A LIFE GET A LIFE and don't spend 48 hours in a row just grinding levels! X(
I love RPGs, but I play them for the story and the fantastical environment they offer, so levelling up is just a necessary evil for me. I just can't understand the kicks some people get from it!
*walks away shaking his head*
The title rightfully goes to athene the best paladin in the world, Nymh was 10 hours behind him when blizz band athene for no good reasonn right b4 he hit 80.
Ahahahaha.
You actually rate each other. He's the best at been the saddest bastard on earth?.
I WON AT THE LEVELLING GAME, MARVEL AT ME YOU SAD LIFELESS VERMIN.
I do feel a need to be an indignant git, as you people really need to be told.
I think some people are being super harsh just because it is WoW (or maybe because it is a MMO at all). Would people be so upset if someone had taken a couple of days off for an offline video game (like many people enjoy doing) and grinded through it as fast as they could? If WoW is this guy's hobby, more power to him.
While I'll be the first to say that people can spend far too much time playing WoW (or video games in general), just because someone goes on a marathon gaming session once in a while does NOT mean that they're losers without lives.
No, not really.
It's only because it's an MMO. I wouldn't take it that seriously to be honest.
To get to Level 80 or whatever it is in WarhammercraftXI and view it as an achievement and seek adulation is pathetic though, no matter how you look at it.
Hey, if he felt the time he put into it was worth what he got out of it (a few achievements few if any will ever get and 15 seconds of fame) then to him it was an achievement. There is no reason to belittle him because it is an MMO anymore than there is reason to someone who has spent countless hours making their RPG party perfect, or breeding and training the perfect pokemon, or perfecting a winning combo in a fighting game. I don't see the point in belittling someone for something they're proud of, something that many people don't have the skill (or patience) to do.
Honestly, I don't understand why you're so antagonistic towards this guy.
You I don't get the hate.
Also it only was a day... I mean yeah it's fucking crazy but 27 hours out of one life isn't really that much time.
There aren't enough facepalm jpegs in the entire multiverse for how I feel about this.
@Will, @Essex: I wouldn't even bother replying to Neo's comments; simply put, he's just your basic troll.
He also lends credence to a certain theory:

wow, congratulations, you're as big a fool as the people in FFXI who fought Pandemonium Warden for that long.
you have certainly earned the title of "living in my mom's basement"
