WipEout HD: Patched To The Easy

zonehd06fs.jpg

It has been well documented my love and devotion to the WipEout series. I downloaded WipEout HD on release day, strapped myself in and devoted more than a reasonable amount of time to that game. How much do I have to show for it? Like 3 whole trophies. That's right, 3, if that.

Those cats at Sony realized that yes, their game is hard. Maybe too hard, so now available is that 1.20 is some retooled difficulty and trophy requirements. Already got that platinum trophy? Well, beans to you the rest of us want a shot. Sony has effectively ramped down the difficulty curve of the campaign mode by allowing novice, expert and elite difficulty settings. This also changes the requirements to gain trophies depending on your difficulty setting.

Okay, so this makes those trophies mean just a little less now. Not that they were worth a whole lot in the first place, mind you. But now, at least, I can change that lame 6% or whatever I have on that game to something a little less embarrassing.

I played a bit just last night before bed and I did noticed the different look to the medals. For me I guess I like the punishment by playing on Skilled. It still feels brutally difficult but after about 30 tries of the same track I eventually get the hang of it and maybe a bronze or silver medal to boot. :) Love the series hate the difficulty :)
