U.S. Arcades Not Getting Street Fighter IV

Well, it looks like you can go ahead and spend those quarters on laundry after all. In a statement to Edge, Chris Kramer, senior director of communications and community for Capcom Entertainment, revealed that the United States most likely will not get Street Fighter IV arcade machines.
There's not really an arcade business in the U.S. anymore. It's sort of like an 'amusement' business that sometimes has arcade games in it. ...Street Fighter IV's a great game, but could it rejuvenate an industry that died off seven or eight years ago? I don't think so. I don't think it's that great. I don't think anything by itself would be capable of revamping a whole business like that.
True-ish, I guess, but ouch. The article also noted that while a few places have imported Japanese machines, Capcom isn't sure that's completely legal, and although it hasn't taken any action at this point, is keeping its options open.
With the home version of the game coming in a few months, this probably isn't a huge blow to most fans of the game. As well, Kramer threatens promises that Mad Catz has shown off some "really, really, really nice" arcade sticks that they're planning on producing around the same time as the game's release, that should help bring an arcade feel to playing at home.

I remember when arcade games only cost a quarter.
My town doesn't even have an arcade.
It's Mad Catz, not Katz.
they have a TON of them at Arcade UFO here in austin.
i have mixed feelings about them though. first i have to say, you really cant tell they are from japan. they are pretty much totally in english. and secondly they look AMAZING. seriously, they look nothing like a standard arcade cabinet. very high tech.
but my problems are twofold. first, its a DOLLAR per game. which really wouldnt bother me too much as i was doing really really well with that dollar i spent. either this game is easier or i just am better than i thought. but there is a snag. the machines are wireless. by that i mean they all talk to the other machines in the room. so anyone can wind up coming in as a new challenger if they are playing at the same time. there is no way to turn this off. and you lose, you lose your buck.
you CAN play without the risk of entering a vs fight. but only by doing training mode and not story mode. there is no separation between vs and story. at all. and frankly, i dont come to arcades to play other people. i hate it. i cant stand those little bastards who stand around all day waiting for someone to get on the machine they want to play just to come wreck them and validate themselves. and thats TOTALLY the case here. only now you cant see them coming. they just suddenly appear out of nowhere, and keep coming periodically.
but i think thats just my problem. i hate playing people online too. there is just something about playing games with strangers that bothers me. nine times out of ten their attitudes are piss poor. witness xbox live. SF4 is certainly no XBL, and i do think the wireless mechanic is neat as all hell. but i want no part of it when all im trying to do is enjoy myself with what would otherwise be a really fun game.
@MuneTeika:
Thanks, fixed.
Playing Street Fighter 3 Alpha on a stand up arcade machine this morning only made me wish I could have the experience of trying SFIV in the arcades, but kyle's comment up there makes me hesitant - I too am not a fan of online matchups, nor the arcade fighting game vultures.
