The New X(pencive)box Experience: Deferred.

nxe costumes.jpg

So far, I've enjoyed my New Xbox Experience. The interface is clean and easy to navigate, don't even get me started on the Netflix integration (I'm now writing goodbye letters to $15 a month). Then there are the avatars. When I first started creating my little pixelated persona, my thought process went thusly: "There really isn't much in the way of clothes, I wonder when Microsoft is going to release more... oh those bitches". Yes, it went just like that.

Transparent or not, Microsoft has basically written themselves a blank check from people who enjoy this sort of thing. Now, the real question is, when do they plan on cashing it? According to Dreisechzig.net, we can breathe a sigh of relief (for now):

"More costumes will be made available for free in the next weeks. What's going to happen as of spring is yet to be announced. If you spot Avatars that wear clothes not yet available in the Avatar Editor, those belong to beta testers who were allowed to test ALL the new clothes beforehand (for instance my chic Xbox Jersey)."

Maybe when they start charging, they will open the New Xbox Salvation Army? I want new clothes, but I want to be thrifty.

Well, you cant say goodbye to $15 subs quite yet! You still need to have a netflix sub in order to stream movies.

Considering the current selection (and the lack of movies from Columbia) you may want to keep that 3 at a time plan.

I like the new look too (aside from the annoying Penny Arcade image that automatically appears in Spotlights every time I start up my 360), but I find that I get a LOT of error messages. I really hope that this is something that will be fixed in a few days as it is very annoying.
As for the avatars, I made one I'm quite happy with, but I wouldn't mind more clothes either. I find it especially odd that you can't select other colours for the clothes you can select. Take the school blazer/uniform thing. It's red, but why not give the option to make it green or blue or whatever? Seems odd to me especially since you can change the colour of facial features.

Also, I really want to know, are the community games American only? Because I'd love to try them out, but I can't find them on my European 360.

Still haven't made an Avatar yet, don't really plan on it. Even if I only spend 2 minutes on it, that's 2 minutes I could spend doing anything else.

Certain costume parts are included in Premium themes. For instance, in japan, the Ninja Blade(I think it was) PreTheme comes with, I think 5 ninja costume parts.

Bundling with Themes is the smart way to go, imo.

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
