No Hendrix On Wii

The Wii has always been kind of the red-headed stepchild when it comes to music games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band. The games are released later than on other systems, the DLC is limited because there's no hard drive... it's sad. Well, Activision Blizzard has confirmed that licensing issues will prevent the Jimi Hendrix track pack from making it onto Nintendo's console as DLC for Guitar Hero World Tour.
"Due to technical or licensing restrictions, the DLC offerings will not be the same for every console platform," explained a representative from Activision Blizzard. "For example, certain artists prefer to keep the integrity of the track pack rather than releasing singles and the Wii's infrastructure only allows us the ability to release single songs as DLC."
So basically, because the Wii can't offer track packs, but only single songs, these tunes can't appear on the Wii because some licensing restriction prevents them from being sold separately. This could be an issue with Rock Band 2 as well, but we'll just have to wait and see. On the other hand, Wii owners dying to shred some Hendrix might be able to play the songs if they're bundled together on one of those expansion discs that they've put out. We'll see.
