Can't Wait For Skate 2?
EA would like you to know that Skate 2 will be hitting retailers in North America on January 21, 2009 (January 23 in the rest of the world), but if you can't wait until then to indulge your urban skater side, they've got a little treat for you. Next month, they're debuting the Graphics Creator (brilliant name, eh?) over at the official Skate 2 Website, which is a web-based customization tool that will let gamers create custom graphics for their in-game hats, decks and shirts. In addition, if you pre-order (US only, sadly), you can get an exclusive code to unlock the Throwback Pack, which features a variety of retro clothing, accessories and gestures.
Oh, and while Skate 2 won't be out for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 until January, EA would also like you to know that if you really, really desperately want to skate indoors over the holidays, you can always partake of Skate It on the Wii and DS. But does anybody still play these skateboarding games? Really?

Ahem,(raises hand) I still play skateboarding games.
I was massively into Tony Hawk's Pro Skater until they killed the series (around the time Underground came out) by taking away the skating element and replaced it with lame/cheesy story lines.
Skate, on the other hand, is the essential skateboarding game I have always dreamed of and I am still thankful that EA kicked it up a notch to make it more realistic than THPS. I still play Skate (almost) daily since the release date and still enjoy the hell out of it. I am highly looking forward to Skate 2 and have it pre-ordered already.
As I get older, it's harder to find the time to skate in real life, so this helps deal with the reality of getting old. And not to mention, saves money on expensive hospital bills...
Same for me as the above poster, I stood clear of skateboarding games for awhile after Underground 2 but Skate has got me once again excited for this genre of games and im really looking forward for skate 2
I usually dont play skate games as well. My brother likes them more than i do. And that skater kid in the pic is cute :)
While I got completely blown out on the THPS series thanks to Underground and Downhill Jam ds (tournaments every two days?! srsly?!?!), skate. completely renewed my vigor and it's nice to be able to stay in and play something realistic when the weather is horrible outside. I'm also one of those people who plays the first one on a daily basis and on top of that, I've got the DS version of skate it as well. It's not too shabby! Of course I'm excited to hear anything about skate 2!
