Attention Aspiring Writers: Square-Enix Wants Your Fan Fiction

Square-Enix, considered one of the top RPG developers in the industry, is offering the dream opportunity of a lifetime for anyone that wants to combine interests in writing and videogames for a career. A look over at Square-Enix's careers page shows that they are looking to hire English editors to help clean up Japanese translations in their games. Ok, so maybe editing isn't the "dream opportunity of a lifetime," but once your foot's in the door the only direction to go is up.
So how do you apply? Head over to Square-Enix's job posting to make sure you fit the qualifications for the job (which luckily doesn't include any level of proficiency in Japanese) and send in a resume and writing sample to Square-Enix. Ah, but what is this writing sample you ask?
Topic: You are a character from a Square Enix game who has been magically teleported to Japan. Using the language of the position for which you are applying, write a short story about your adventures in this new land. The story must be 800-1000 words in Chicago Manual style.* There are no topic or setting restrictions.
* We will not answer any questions regarding the assignment.
Oh, the fan fic possibilities. Could my 800-1000 word epic Slime's Spectacular Shibuya Shopping Spree get me a job with Square-Enix? Or would they throw out my application when I started mentioning characters from Ehrgeiz? If you consider yourself a writer, this could be just the opportunity you've been waiting for. And please, feel free to share any of your story ideas in the comments, I'd love to hear them.

Wow, I knew that the script for Advent Children was like reading bad fanfiction, but I had no idea I was this close to being right!
I just got THE idea.
I just sent one in as Boko, the chocobo from Final Fantasy V; I felt that it was more important to stay "within character" rather than attempt to get the job, so it was basically 800 "kweh"s and "wark"s with minor variations and, of course, punctuation.
