Weekly XBLA Update - 10/08/08

Do you like sticks and balls? Oh wow, I as I typed that I realized how dirty that question sounds. Scratch that, do you like baseball as played by massive headed individuals wielding wooden planks? I hope you do, because one of this week's XBLA offering is MLB Stickball for 800 points. Relive the crushing defeat of both Chicago teams with dramatic recreations of the recent playoff games and feel the same pain the Sox and Cubs felt. Or you could not...

If baseball isn't your thing, then perhaps stealthy assassination is more to your liking. XBLA has got you covered with the release of Tenchu Shadow Assault for 800 points. Boasting online support for up to four players you can set traps to kill your friends, which is really the only thing a friend is good for. Maybe that hasn't gotten you excited enough to dance, but Beat'n Groovy will! For a mere 800 points you can dance to the beat of different tunes and even integrate movement using the Vision camera. Take that Dance Dance Revolution!

I was watching How I Met Your Mother on my DVR last night and in it the gang went to best best bar in New Jersey. This bar happened to be in the basement of the woman who may or may not be the titular mother but that's neither here nor there. The point is that the best bar in New Jersey had darts in it. This week XBLA is allowing our friends in Europe the chance to have the best bar (or non-alcoholic equivalent) in your town because they're offering a demo of PDC World Championship Darts in the European territories.

This week's huge thanks goes to Sgt. Sausagepants for providing musical salvation in the form of Rock Band DLC. A track pack of the Offspring songs (Gone Away, Self Esteem, and Pretty Fly) will cost you 440 points and the following individual tracks are also available for 160 points a piece:

  • Stop! by Against Me!
  • All Right Now by Free
  • Bad to the Bone by George Thorogood
  • Cream & Bastards Rise Harvey Danger
  • Nearly Lost You by Screaming Trees
  • Push It by Static-X

Oh and yes I realize my pick of War World last week was not a very wise decision so this week download everything with a strong heaping of caution and a dash of paprika.

Take that Dance Dance Revolution? You do know Beat'n Groovy is a spin off of Konami/Bemani's Pop'n Music series don't you? Beat'n Groovy has horrible character artwork. Why couldn't they just use the original characters from Pop'n.

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
