Tekken 6 Fights On 360

tekken6.jpg

Namco Bandai seems to be enamored with the the Xbox 360 as of late. And if Ace Combat, Beautiful Katamari, Eternal Sonata, and Tales of Vesperia weren't enough evidence for you then Namco Bandai's latest might help solidify their support. At Microsoft's Tokyo Game Show keynote address the announcement was made that for the first time Tekken 6 would be venturing into multiplatform territory and release next year for the Xbox 360 as well as the PS3.

I've never been a big fan of the Tekken series myself, but I know plenty of fighting game fans that swear by it. Of course, all of them already own a PS3, so this news won't really mean much for them. But considering how 360 owners gobbled up Namco Bandai's other fighter, Soul Calibur 4, it's a pretty safe bet that this weaponless brawler will find even more fans on Microsoft's box.

UPDATE: Although not so much an update as me catching up on a bit of info that I forgot to mention before. Down in the comments Rain1024 mentioned the Bloodline Rebellion update for Tekken 6 that was released in Japanese arcades. In the announcement of Tekken 6 for 360 it was revealed that the 360 port would include the Bloodline Rebellion content. The Kotaku article doesn't specifically mention that the PS3 version would include the content as well, but I think it's pretty safe to assume that it will.

This is awesome. I already suggested that sooner or later Namco would cave in to the pressure from both sides and finally givs us Tekken - and here it is! Yay!

Too bad technical fighters like this suffer on the 360 because of the horrible d-pad. :(
At least this means better sales for Namcot.

One of the hardest things I thought of when I switched from the Playstation consoles to the Xbox consoles this generation was leaving Tekken behind... however now I guess I have nothing to be sad about! I guess multi-platforming really is becoming standard. I wonder about exclusive content now! Especially since they announced that expansion with 2 new characters.

Thanks for the update NaviFairy! You made my day! :)

Thanks for the info, but I still plan on buying this game for the console with the more responsive d-pad...

I've always thought the PS/2/3 controller was hell for fighters. I always bust up my thumb on that seperated D-pad thing.
Frankly I prefer the Xbox 360's pad.
Wasn't it always thought that the Saturn had a superior D-pad than the PSX? It seems to me the Xbox 360's is pretty similair to the Saturn's.
But it would seem like I'm the only one who thinks this way, so I don't know.

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
