Sony Says No Price Cuts This Holiday Season
It's that time of year again, round three holiday season for the current generation of home consoles (four for the ever eager Xbox 360). Like every year, the same dilemmas are going to crop up. People are going to find it painfully difficult to find a Nintendo Wii (or WiiFit or whatever it is this time) and people are going to complain that the PS3 is too expensive and needs a price reduction. What do you expect from a console that at it's cheapest is priced just under $400 USD.
Patrick Seybold, director of corporate communications was quick to respond to the question, what about a price cut this year?
As previously discussed we aren't making any price moves this holiday seasonIn my opinion, we have the best line up of any PlayStation generation going into this holiday and consumers will be very receptive to it.
I think it would be hard-pressed for them to top the momentum that the Playstation 2 had, and this sounds more like a lot of PR fluff, but I'm more than willing to let them try to talk it up.
With PS3 titles for this including Resistance 2, LittleBigPlanet, SOCOM, MotorStorm: Pacific Rift to name but a few of our multiple exclusives, combined with PlayStation Home and increasing multimedia features for the hardware, we expect to have continued momentum going into and beyond this holiday season,
I will agree that LittleBigPlanet is an excellent piece of software, but It is going to take more than a small handful of exclusive titles to drive up the adoption rate. I also find it funny that the consistently delayed Home is being touted as a method of gaining momentum for the holidays. I'm just glad I bought mine while backwards compatibility was still an option.

bleh that line up is absolutely terrible! Littlebig planet ok, is pretty cool, I still wonder about that game though, from what I've seen it's just like a very well made 2D platformer and nothing wrong with that but with the power of a PS3 and that is a major holiday selling point... that's kind of very sad. ... Maybe they should sit around and shake square silly for awhile till they cough up FFVersus13 or something, that would certainly make me consider the game, or another ratchet and clank... ... or something -.-
A playstation 2 emulator for like 59.99 would also be a good seller. More software to play with, and less clutter of devices would be a plus.
Well then sorry Sony you're not getting my Holiday dollars then. They may say they have a great line up, but Nothing on that list interests me and i'm not willing to go out and buy a damn expensive PS3 for the Blu-Ray player.
