Pikmin 3 Still Growing

olimarpulllarge.gif

Yesterday Nintendo announced that it will be remaking classic Gamecube games for Wii, and I expressed my concern that the Pikmin remake might have been what Shigeru Miyamoto had referred to at E3 when he said a Pikmin game was in development. Well it looks like I wasn't the only one concerned, because in an interview with Nintendo's Cammie Dunaway IGN asked about that very topic. Cammie answered in no uncertain terms.

Cammie Dunaway: It's not the Pikmin that Mr. Miyamoto referred to, no. Mr. Miyamoto referred to a new Pikmin, as opposed to the classics that are being rereleased on Wii.

Pikmin 3 is still on the way! Personally, I was a huge fan of Pikmin on the Gamecube. To this day, I still say it's the best adaptation of the RTS genre for a console, and it wasn't even meant to be a real-time strategy game. When the Wii was first announced with its unique controller, the first game that I thought of that could benefit from the IR pointer was Pikmin, and now it's completely certain that a new entry in the series is in development. There's still no date for when the Pikmin and Pikmin 2 remakes will be making their way to the Wii outside of Japan, but I urge everyone to go out and buy them when they come. You know what, why wait? Go out and get Pikmin or its sequel for Gamecube and brush up on your gardening skills. I promise, you won't be sorry that you did

I could definitely see myself playing again the Wii versions of the Pikmins and the Metroid Primes, if the price is right. I'm thinking around $20, though my guess is Nintendo will probably release them at $30. Or, they could bundle the games together (a Pikmin collection, or Metroid Prime collection consisting of the pair of games in either series) and charge the standard new-release price of $50.

I hope for Pikmin 3 they follow 2 more than 1. I still haven't finished Pikmin because I like to explore & always run out of time. Even if I try to finish in the 30 days I can't make it, I'm always 2 or so parts behind. I would like to finish it but don't want to Action Replay it. First Animal Crossing CF, now Pikmin 3, they sure know how to latch onto my $$
