New 360 Controller Just More Of The Same

When the red 360 controller was announced many players were hoping that Microsoft would see fit to update their mushy D-pad with the hot new color. I'll admit that I got my hopes up, but my dreams were destined to be crushed. Now that they're hitting the streets and thanks to some inquisitive posters over at NeoGAF, it's been revealed that the controllers feature the same busted circuitry innards for the D-pad. A quick photo comparison featured in the thread show that Microsoft doesn't mind reading about how people will pass up certain multiplatform games in favor of the PS3 because of their muddy D-pad mess.
Sorry if I'm being too harsh, but I just recently played Bionic Commando: Rearmed on my friend's PS3 this weekend and couldn't help but to be completely incensed by my foolish mistake of buying it on the 360. The PS3 version just felt so much better, allowing me to make jumps and catches that would have taken me multiple tries on the 360. It was such 2D ecstasy that I forgot all about my valueless gamerscore. This moment of clarity was only temporary as the memories of my many controller-throwing deaths flooded back to me and the rage consumed me.
Well I say enough is enough! My days of achievement whoring are officially over because of this. With no reasonably priced and/or domestic option coming our way for the foreseeable future, I'm swearing off the purchases of all D-pad centric games for 360 releases from now on until they fix it. Granted, this doesn't stop me from loading up awesome games like Castle Crashers, but we all have our weaknesses.

Nintendo has the only real Dpad.
Sony uses four buttons and Microsoft uses a Hat-switch. I believe this might be because of some patents that Nintendo holds.
I'm planning on doing some slight modification to my controller's D-pad to see if it helps make it more responsive. I think the DualShock controllers have the best D-pads; having the directional buttons separated makes it much easier to navigate through game interfaces.
thanks for the blog. the customers' cries aren't helping but maybe the cries of journalists will!
thanks for having (using?) the balls to post this important issue.
my guess is that MS will admit it with the XBox 420 (or whatever stupid name they give it that will "sound better than" 4 (as in PS4). then they will fix it with Xbox 599 (or whatever stupid name they give that one).
