DSi By Next Summer?

The DSi is hitting Japanese stores on Saturday just in time for the holiday season. But since it's already costing 18,900 yen, which is about $192, importing is going to be too expensive for all but the most devoted of Nintendo fanboys. So when will Nintendo's newest handheld miracle land on US shores? Well, according to President Satoru Iwata, we can expect to see it in the Americas in the summer of 2009. The Wii and DS have basically been a license to print money for Nintendo, so obviously they hope the DSi will continue that trend, shipping 200,000 units for the first weekend, and shooting for an additional 100,000 for the beginning of next week. It'll be interesting to see if Nintendo can continue its winning streak, or if maybe they're starting to oversaturate the marketplace. As I've said before, I'm perfectly happy with my DS Lite, and after already buying it to replace the DS Phat I'd already purchased, I can't really see myself buying this new iteration. I'm not made of money like Nintendo seems to be! I can't wait to see the sales figures come Monday!
