You Can Be 8-Bit

To most of us here games have always been art, but over the past four years the I am 8-bit art exhibit has taken it a step further by making classic games art in a more traditional sense. Seeing videogame icons through the eyes of some of the artists featured in the show can be a slightly scary experience (Kirby should stay cartoony, just sayin'), but more often than not these works of art are nothing short of awe inspiring.
Sadly, the closest I've gotten to see the exhibit with my own eyes was at an "E3 of Yore" a few years ago where only a few pieces were brought over. One of these days I'll make my way there, but until then we can all be 8-bit and buy prints from the show. Prints up for grab currently include: a mostly abstract depiction of Link preparing to battle Gannon (pictured), a series of panels highlighting "the greatest showdowns of the 8-bit era," and a dreamy vision the mushroom kingdom's seas. Each of the slightly pricey prints come signed and numbered by their respective artists. If you see something you like, you better act quick as it looks like they are pretty limited runs. The online store says that they'll be adding more pieces "soon," which I'm sure will have my wallet crying in no time.
Of course, you could always order the book that they put out not long ago, but I'm not so sure that would as good hung up on the wall.

=-O I will be buying this next week. It looks amazing!
I got to see the exhibit for the first time the weekend after it opened at World of Wonder. I missed it last year. LOVE the exhibit, I'm glad to see a print being offered of that Zelda piece - limited to 50? I think I need to order ASAP!!!
My other favorite pieces were the 8 different brings paints and adorned with stylings to each of the original Street Fighters. Funky style and great colors. I wanted them all!
