XBLA On Fire, Sells Lots Of Games

roomsonfire.jpg

The summer heat was a little hotter than usual for the Xbox 360 this year. Aside from a few big releases, Microsoft's "Summer of Arcade" increased sales from unique members by 58 percent during the sunny season. This in turn made this August the highest grossing month is all of Xbox Live's history. This shouldn't be a surprise to my wallet since August treated us tpo tons of fun: Geometry Wars 2, Braid, Bionic Commando: Rearmed, Galaga Legions, and my current favorite, Castle Crashers. Microsoft is quick to mention that the fun isn't over and there's plenty more to come. We've got Portal: Still Alive, a South Park game of some sort, and a not so "final" R-Type Dimensions.

It seems like downloadable games have really picked up some momentum this year with no signs of stopping no matter what system you're on. Going over my most recent purchases, these games drastically outnumber retail games that I'm buying, and that's not counting my hopeless addiction to Rock Band's legendary collection of songs. Anyone else noticing their gaming spending habits changing in line with this? If so, wanna play some Castle Crashers?

Oh man! That picture made me think that Stevie Nicks tracks were coming to Rock Band. You tease!

Sorry for the tease. ;)

For the record, I would scream like a little girl if Rumours or Other Side of the Mirror showed up on Rock Band.

Is there more info on R-Type Dimensions out there yet? A Screenshot? Anything? :/

Why's Braid crossed out? :)

I bought almost all of those XBL Arcade games, but since I moved on September 1st I didn't spend as much time with them as I hoped. :( I should do that.
