UK Console Sales Display Brilliant Growth
When it comes to gaming news, our friends in the UK often find themselves left out in the cold. The real kicker to this treatment is that our friends across the pond are actually just as big of gamers as we are. In the last year, console sales have leapt forward showing increases that more than double what sales were in 2007. Let's compare these past two years shall we?
Total UK Console Install Base September 2007
Xbox 360- 1.3 million
PS3- 0.4 million
Wii- 1.1 million
DS- 3.8 million
PSP- 2.2 million
Total UK Console Install Base September 2008
Xbox 360- 2.3 million
PS3- 1.4 million
Wii- 3.6 million
DS- 7.1 million
PSP- 2.9 million
The PSP seems to be the only console that hasn't experienced the same growth as the others, but 2.9 million units sold still places it ahead of the 360 and PS3. I think when we're all fighting over which console is best we lose sight of just how popular gaming has become. Sometimes it takes data like this to show all gamers that while we all may have our loyalties, we're part of a much larger community, spanning the entire world. That is my schlocky "let's hold hands" piece for the day. Now you may continue arguing about which console is better.
