Fatal Frame Four's Freeze Folly: Japanese Release Is Buggy
It would seem that the trouble for Tecmo is not quite over. The curse of Itakagi is in full force, and now it is striking the very core of one of my favorite game series: Fatal Frame. With the addition of Goichi Suda and the added mechanic of using the Nintendo Wii as the target platform, Fatal Frame IV is proving to be a bit of a disappointment.
Based on the reports that are cropping up across the net, it amazes me that this game managed to make it past quality testing. Buggy collision response, inaccessible menu options and even a hard lock is causing wide spread problems for players. The problems have actually gotten so bad that Nintendo released a statement addressing the problems (Japanese) and offering details on how to avoid the potential issues.
A NeoGAF user posted a solution to the hard lock bug, which I have placed after the jump to avoid any potential spoiler problems. My hope is that these bugs get addressed before (if?) a US release is made. It would seem a shame that the series would be destroyed because of a rushed release.
Importers Beware: Fatal Frame 4 BUGGED [NeoGAF]
Potential spoiler after the jump (see above):
During "三ノ蝕 忘日" (it's a day/chapter in the game I believe) after you have obtained the 暗号のようなメモ (coded memo), if you open the door to the doctor's room on the 2nd floor of the hospital the game will lock up. To avoid this, after getting the memo go to the director's office in the first floor and enter the 3 digit code into the interphone first.

This kind of thing pisses me off and makes me glad I don't import. Hopefully this is all resolved when it comes states side, if ever. Maybe we'll get a PS2 port....
