Wii Storage Issues: Not Just for Game Geeks Anymore

Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has come forward to admit that the Wii's storage issues are reaching beyond core gamers as was posited by his Nintendo Europe counterpart, Laurent Fischer.
"From an Americas-centric perspective here is the reality we see. We have a consumer base who loves virtual console. We have a userbase who really is enjoying WiiWare content. So for us really our challenge really is how do we satisfy all these consumers who are loving all of the product we make available on a download basis?""As we continue to have things like Mario Kart that has its own channel when you're playing from an Internet perspective, we're just making this challenge tougher and tougher. So in our view this is becoming much more of a mainstream problem, which is why we have a sense of urgency to solve it."
I'm glad to hear that Nintendo is finally addressing this issue, but unfortunately this turn around adds fuel to something many people feel has been happening lately: That Nintendo is turning its back on its core gaming fans and concentrating on the family userbase. There is also the reality that Nintendo is a company in the business of making money and businesses target their products to their largest userbase. That's just basic marketing. However you feel about it though, the good news is that an issue that should have been dealt with ages ago will finally be addressed.

How hard is it to allow things to run from an SD card? Why wasn't this done months ago?
Although I kind of wish they would put the storage solution in the new motionplus addon so you could take your entire virtual console lineup and game saves over to a friend's place hardwired inside your wiimote.
