Video: Wario Land: Shake It! Gameplay And Intro
After a few missteps, can the recently announced Wario Land: Shake It! for the Nintendo Wii bring Wario back to the good graces of platforming fans? Check out the minute of footage above to help you decide. While the music doesn't inspire me, I hope that the context based gameplay can keep things interesting. From shaking bags of coins to riding in a rocket ship, I think you can get a pretty good idea of the many ways you'll be using the remote throughout the game. When I first heard the words "classic side-scroller" and "Wii" together, my wrists started to ache thinking about holding the remote sideways for the entire length of the game.
After the break, watch the intro video for the game, which has a much more traditional anime style than the Wario Ware games. I'm not sure I approve, but then I have no idea what's going on in the video, either.

These animated sequences put to shame what the Mario games have been using to advance the story. Love that. Also, am I the only one who's seriously tickled to see Syrup running around again? I was excited to begin with, but these clips pushed me over the edge.
