Rumor: PS3 Greatest Hits Coming Soon

ps3greatesthits.jpg

According to a leaked Kmart promo flier, it looks like Sony will be launching a greatest hits line for the PS3 very soon. The titles shown in the ad are Warhawk, Motorstorm, and Resistance: Fall of Man, although it's possible more titles will be announced for the line. There's also no word on a price -- $29.99 would be a good bet for Resistance and Motorstorm, but Warhawk (minus the bluetooth headset) currently sells for only $39.99, so would the greatest hits version be sold for even less? Presumably any discount would apply to the downloadable game as well.

In all likelihood the announcement of a greatest hits line will happen during E3 this year, so expect to hear more in the upcoming week.

Motorstorm was a launch title people were practically forced to buy it, and Resistance is complete shit.

Never played Warhawk.

I would guess $29.99 for the price on the PS3 Greatest Hits titles. Not that I would pay that much for any of those shown...

Keith -

Yeah, $29.99 is probably more realistic. The Xbox 360 value line is $30 in the US, and I'd guess that's the model they'd match.

I'm just surprised that the ad doesn't list a price. Either way I'm going to guess a price tag of 19.99 since they are shown with psp titles.

Motorstorm wasn't a launch game either to whoever said it was and no one was forced to buy it. It was later bundled into the system package and it's a good reason why I see a $20 price tag instead of $30...

At least these aren't as completely fugly as the euro Greatest Hits design. I can handle the return of of the dead cases (HD-DVD zombies?).

Of the games listed: Motorstorm... more like Motormeh, amirite? Warhawk deserves love and $30 is closer to what it's actually worth, but it sucks that expansions don't come with it. I think the best thing I could say about Resistance is that at least it tries really hard.

Also, since it shows up in the corner of the ad, any PSP owner that doesn't own Killzone Liberation is missing out! The PS2 game (and ps3 version likely) wasn't anything more than a really generic fps, but the PSP game still looks pretty generic but is awesomely designed and controls pretty well too (a hard find in "traditional" games on the system, IMO). I very highly recommend it!
