Linked Achievements, Toddler-Sized Lancer Revealed For Gears Of War 2

At their Comic Con panel, the Gears of War 2 team let slip some new details about the game and the frenzy surrounding it. The first big announcement was for players of the first game and achievement whores in general, unveiling the concept of linked achievements. By winning certain achievements in the original Gears of War, you can unlock content in the sequel. The examples revealed included multiplayer versions of Carmine, Lt. Kim, and Gen. Raam all unlocked by completing various acts in the first game. No doubt other linked achievements will be revealed closer to the game's release date, so if the title has been sitting in your backlog, this might be a good time to put it on the top of the pile.
Also announced was a super-premium bundle, retailing for $130, that will include a replica of the Lancer, the chainsaw gun employed by the characters in the game. No other details were giving, leaving the name, availability, size, and functionality in question. Also note that the information is unconfirmed by Microsoft so the details may shift a little bit. If it follows the Halo 3 Legendary Edition, expect the lancer to be the perfect size for your little nieces and nephews to practice their decapitations and chainsodomy.
They also reconfirmed that Len Wiseman (Underworld, Live Free or Die Hard) will be directing the feature film, with Chris Morgan (Wanted) providing the script. While no casting was announced, they did warn that "the lead role might not be the massive buff guy that people expect." I'm going to go ahead and start the "Jack Black as Marcus Fenix" rumor right now.

Hmmm, this might be a good excuse to go back through Gears of War and pick up all those COG tags that I'm missing.
