Harmonix Throws Down Over Konami's Lawsuit Claims

It's on like Donkey Kong, my friends. With Konami strutting onto the scene and catting Harmonix into a fight, it only seems suitable for Harmonix to, at the very least, acknowledge the existence of the tiff.
"Konami's actions are extremely surprising. Unfortunately, successful products such as Rock Band can often become targets for baseless litigation," said a company spokesperson today.
"We have substantial defenses to this claim and intend to vigorously defend it."
Good for you, Harmonix! Don't let the good ship Rock Band go down without an adequate, and publicly dramatic, fight.

Fighting just like drunken rock stars =[
so. . . . Rock Band infringes and Guitar Hero does not? color me confused.
What do you mean good for you? They infringed Konami's patent, so they're getting what's coming to them. Would you want someone to steal your idea and then make money off of it? I think not!

@fillerbunny
Activision paid Konami royalties when they were working on Guitar Hero 3 so they could use Konami's guitar patent. That's why they're not getting sued.
While I do have a problem with patent trolls, the fact that Konami was actually using their patent, though it seems like they have backed off of the whole beat game thing, kind of exempts them from my anger.
