E3 2008: A First Look At Animal Crossing: City Folk!
Damn you Nintendo! Some of you might be aware that Animal Crossing and I have somewhat of a love hate relationship. The first installment of this game literally took months of my life away from me. My sleep schedule changed. A fight between roommates and I broke out over mushrooms and an inordinate amount of fruit being stored in my basement and the secret location of my Gameboy Advance. It was a dark time in my household.
Now they had to go and make it so Animal Crossing: City Folk is due out later this year. In addition to including WiFi connectivity, the game will feature Voice chat. Now I'll be able to speak in the game with people in a language other than animalese!
The game will allow players to sell, buy and trade (acBay?) online with friends and strangers alike, wear a Mii-face mask, and provide a large community space so users will be able to meet new people and greet friends a like. Additionally they will be providing a "community microphone" that I'm sure will not be abused in any way shape or form.
I guess this also means I won't be breaking into Noun's city, stealing his fruit, trampling his flowers and planting pitfalls all around his house unless he lets me in. You win this round Nintendo... this round.

It's about time we get a confirmation on this title! It's been so long since they've last said anything about it. Can't wait!
Oh dear a skunk, that good be either good or bad, probably bad, heh.
I can't wait, and from what I noticed in one of the videos, the Holidays return, yay!
Well time to buy our second Wii so we can both play and visit each other!
Wow, they really don't give a crap about the quality of the graphics, do they? The problem with the first game was, once you realize all the game has to offer is collecting tons of worthless items (fish, bugs, fossils, etc.) there's really very little gameplay there. Sure, I enjoyed the game for a couple days, but these stories of people being obsessed over the game for months really just blow me away. Unless they've added a bunch more activities to this game, I'd have to say that my interest in it is next to zero.
Yay! I love this title, I'm a bit disappointed after all the MMO and other crazy rumors, but it's better than the original "spring 09" release date.
But I agree the graphics need update. If they don't have any then at least give me more content. It looks like the DS one a lot. What about my Miis? :( I thought they were going to integrate the Mii channel some how oh well, I'm still hyper for this title!
AcBay? That was funny :).
I would also have liked to see a little more improvement in the graphics. And I'm a little disappointed that a lot of that furniture looks very familiar. I'm sure there will be new stuff, though.
I found that the DS game really had legs because of the multiplayer, so I expect the Wii version will be the same. I can't wait to start making beautifully-colored hybrid flowers and have people over to ooh and ahh at them!
Weeeee!
(But if it's already done, as is rumored, why can't we have it NOW? Why make us wait until Christmas?)
