Wii Storage "Fix" On The Way
It seems that Mr. Fischer is managing to save some face after the "otaku and geeks" statement he made about a month ago. The storage concerns with the Nintendo Wii has plagued many a gamer, myself included. With the addition of WiiWare, space is progressively finding itself at somewhat of a premium. Nintendo, finally, has promised that they are working on it:
We definitely detect that they [gamers] are serious and we know there is an issue in this, so it's something that we're working on
Ok, so it's a little vague, and not necessarily a promise, but Nintendo is usually good about keeping up their end of the bargain... right? Laurent Fischer continued in his interview with GameIndustry.biz on what they are doing to resolve the problem.
Definitely there's no plan to issue hardware, an external hard drive, but we know that we have an issue in that area, It's very obvious and we're perfectly aware of it, but there's nothing we can say beyond this.
If they are not attaching additional hardware, and they are working to improve storage... that only leaves to possibilities. Game Cube memory cards and SD cards. Hopefully this means our prayers have been answered. My only question now is what is taking them so long?

Couldn't it also mean either opening up the USB port to allow our own external drives to hook up, or accessing other hard-drives over the network?
My guess is that if they were going to release support for external drives via USB, they would make a branded Nintendo USB drive (like they did with the SD).
It's all speculation anyway, really.
It will be a system update and expansion into SD card memory because it is the cheapest and neatest solution.
