Video: Call Of Duty: World At War Full Length Debut Trailer
Here's a look at Call of Duty's move back to WWII. After the tremendous success of Modern Warfare, a lot of people have serious doubts about another shooter starring "The Greatest Generation," but it's likely Activision had no idea that COD4 would be so well received when they started this Treyarch developed sequel.
I'm a little mixed about the genre of war shooters: I'm late to the party with COD4, but it came up in my Gamefly queue last week and I've been giving it a try. I can tell the game is well made, and it does a lot of things right, but there's still something keeping me from really connecting with the game. I gobble up sci-fi shooters like Half Life 2 and Bioshock, but in general I have a hard time really enjoying realistic war games. I don't know if it's simply a genre preference or if it's something more personal and more political.

I'm not a fan of the WW2 shooters - it's been done way too much.
COD4 was awesome, not just because of the single player, but the online modes - which, months later, are STILL some of the best online experiences... way beyond Halo 3. COD4 was well designed from top to bottom by Infinity Ward (the original makers of the first COD game and they've stated numerous times that COD4 was the game they've always wanted to make).
This one's made by Treyarch. Sounds like more of the same...
