N-Gage Launches Today
As mentioned before, Nokia's N-Gage is being reborn as a application downloadable S60 compatible smart-phones. While it's usefulness is questionable, it did in fact launch today.
In a strange twist of fate, I procured a S60 phone earlier this week. I managed to install this on my new phone, and let me tell you it's a rocky launch. Page time-outs and just general problems staying connected to their network runs ramped. It took me five, count them, five tries to get registered. That doesn't include setting my profile and getting the phone logged in. I have yet to successfully download an application to try to the system out.
As I mentioned before, the system has a strong resemblance to the Xbox 360 Dashboard. This is not a bad thing, I like that setup. Hopefully the network hiccups iron themselves out after the initial hit of early adopters pans out. My recommendation, wait a day or two to sign up if you're going to.
