Now You Too Can Look Like A Complete Tool In Public

Well, this is certainly... interesting. Guitar Hero: On Tour has been revealed, and the portable rhythm game comes with... this.
To be honest, I'm not sure what to make of this thing. The concept of portable Guitar Hero is strange enough, but I really don't think I want to be seen in a public place playing this. They have gone out of their way to incorporate the various capabilities of the DS, however.
Along with the single player campaign, Guitar Hero: On Tour will also support multiplayer. The game will feature both co-op as well as competitive two player options using the local wireless functions of the Nintendo DS system. The game's battle mode will feature similar gameplay as the mode created in Guitar Hero III, with power-ups created specifically for Guitar Hero: On Tour. For example, players can activate power-ups that'll send raving fans to the other screen, and the opponent will have to sign autographs on the touchscreen to get rid of them. Or out-of-control pyrotechnics will be set ablaze, and players will have to blow them out using the Nintendo DS microphone.
That is actually kind of cute. There is no official release date but the game is scheduled to come out this summer. Time will tell if the game will be successful, but at least they've gone out of their way to make it interesting and not just a crappy port.

The first thing I thought of when I saw this image (well, after wondering how uncomfortable it will be to play for more than five minutes) was how the fret attachment will work on DS Phats. That's a DS Lite in the picture, and it has a different-sized GBA slot. The Web Browser came with a memory expansion cart for DS Lite only, and as a DS Phat user I had to contact Nintendo who happily sent me a different cart that would fit in my DS Phat. I'm just curious how they'll address this issue. I've since switched over, but I'm sure there are still some Phats out there!

The commercial (horrible as it may be) gives a better look at how the system will be held. There is a fairly weighty strap on the back which I think will make things a bit less akward.
You can check that video out here: http://www.videogameszone.de/?article_id=636582&page=2&mag=23
I really doubt that there will be a seperate perifial for the DS Phat, though it would be very very easy for them to make an adapter so that it would work with the deeper GBA slot that the phatboy has.
Until there are some hands on it will be impossible to say if this game is good, but I am a consumer whore and will be buying it no matter what. The worst that can happen is that my old virtual boy will have some new company to collect dust with on my odd tech shelf.
Guitar Hero DS? Looks more like Accordion Hero DS to me.
It looks great to me, I'm very looking forward to this game.
It's just a shame, though, that this is one game that I won't be able to play on my R4.
No thanks... Looks awkward to play. Plus no downloadable stuff (most likely) so I won't bother.
Klesmer!
No orange button hey... Might be the version for me!
Exactly how many games are nintendo planning to use the 'blow into the mic so that you look really bleeding mental in public' trick with?
