My Life As Tax Collector: WiiWare Crystal Chronicles To Have Microtransaction DLC
Downloadable content is a mixed bag, especially when it comes already small games. I thought the Gran Turismo fans were going to string Sony up by the rafters when they stated they were considering making the game inexpensive but charge for car and track packs. Turns out Square-Enix is taking the same approach with Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life As King.
Spencer from Siliconera noticed that when he was downloading the Japanese version (the lucky sod) of FFCC:MLAK there was the delightful warning that is pictured above. It essentially states that there may be additional fees associated with the game.
Turns out, they are going to be charging for additional content packages like costumes and races. As Spencer noted, this explains why all the screenshots show an excess of Clavats. The addition of a DLC system also makes me question whether or not 512MB of internal flash will be enough for this game.
There has been no word on how much the content packs will cost, but it is expected that they will run between 100~300 WiiPoints. Considering that the game is only $15 USD, it's really not that bad of a deal, especially when you consider the quality of most square titles.
