Video: Meet The Wii Freeloader
Much to my excitement, my Wii Freeloader arrived today. Datel's oft delayed device promotes a safe way to play import Wii and GameCube titles, though the technique employed scared the pants off of me!
I abandoned my GameCube shortly after waiting twenty-five hours in a Wal-Mart for a launch Wii. Initially, there were only minor feelings of loss, but last August's Wii firmware update inadvertently crippled the original Freeloader and hindered my ability for a lazy Sunday stroll through Doshin the Giant or Homeland.
Operating the Wii Freeloader is simple enough, though the procedure is a little different than the previous model. At the Wii's main screen, the user inserts the Freeloader into the system and is treated to this scene of pure terror:
Yes, "OM NOM NOM NOM." While I am not the party in the video, the above is the Freeloader telling you that it is okay to remove the disc and replace it with your imported title. Mind you, while the screen is warping, a lovely sucking sound effect is queued. The combination of the sight and sound of the Freeloader in action moved me into a dizzying panic as I became instantly convinced that my Wii was retching in pain.
Might I recommend demoing it to an unsuspecting friend?

I thought the Wii Freeloader only worked with Wii titles? I've not been able to get it working with my USA GC games on my GB Wii.
While the packaging materials fail to state directly, the Wii Freeloader does also work with GameCube titles.
Shouldn't it be Fwii-woader?
