BioShock 2 Formally Announced
The game that got our collective manties moist is getting a sequel. BioShock 2 is slated for a fourth-quarter 2009 release date and will be developed by 2K Marin. No system(s) has been announced, but I imagine it's safe to say the Xbox 360 and PC will definitely be getting the title.
The announcement was made today in Take 2 Games' First Quarter Fiscal 2008 Financial Results. Since BioShock was released in August of last year, the title has sold over 2 million copies worldwide. Those are nice figures and it pleases me greatly to see them tied to such an impressive piece of work. We can only hope the sequel can meet expectations as they will undoubtedly be high. 2K Marin, brace yourself. Big Daddy's shoes are mighty big to fill, especially if they are to be filled in time for the 2009 Holiday Season. Good luck!

Hmm...the change in developer has me concerned. Also, given how perfect the story in the first game is, I can't really see where they could take it with a sequel, unless it takes place before the first game. Now that could be interesting, seeing the war between Fontane and Ryan's groups.
The fact Ken Levine isn't going to have anything to do with it immediately sets off red flags for me.
Actually, he IS going to be involved with the game, according to this:
