A First Look At American McGee's Grimm

Courtesy of GameTap comes the first look at screens and a trailer from their upcoming collaboration with American McGee, Grimm. The game will be a 24 week episodic game based on Grimm's fairy tales and available exclusively on the GameTap service. The art style looks great although it wasn't quite what I was hoping based on the original concept art. Still looks great though and I can't wait to check it out. Especially the spooky parts which seem to have a nice amount of early Tim Burton about them.

Wow, that's totally not what I was expecting. Based on the concept art, I was hoping for something much closer to Alice in style. This looks very much like a television show that should be on Cartoon Network or Nickelodeon.

And does anyone else think that one of the lamest ways to make something seem "dark" is to change signs that say things like "hospital" to signs that say things like "morgue," and then color them black?

This totally wasn't the atmosphere I was wishing for.

True.
I am actually also a bit disappointed by the art style... The concept arts looked much better.
Meh, and with one trailer, I lost interest in the game...

And it just hit me- what's with the giant in the thong?

Well, it's from the famous fairy tale "The Giant in the Thong"... I guess...

Ugh, really. Just watched the trailer again. The music is aweful. Not at all like I imagined the atmosphere of the game when I aw the first sketches...

Ah well, that means waiting for A Vampyre Story then...

American McGee's Wind Waker.

Seriously, this looks way better than what I've come to expect from American McGee, who had built his reputation as being the Todd McFarlane of game developers (IE: Take something normally thought of as cute/whimsical and make it ugly and horrifying).

Graphics/Levels look like a mix between Padman and the "G-man" level in Psychonauts... Which is fine by me... so long as the game is good! "Alice" was great, but since then McGee hasn't come even close...

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
