RIP Marvel Fighting Game

With the November closing of EA Chicago (of Fight Night Round 3 and Def Jam: Icon "fame"), the Marvel fighting game that had been announced last Summer is now officially dead. Not terribly surprising for a game under development at a studio that's been closed for months, but nevertheless recently officialized.
What's clear from the following statement from Marvel VP Justin Lombros is that Marvel still plans on making some kind of fighting game featuring their beloved characters - just not with EA:
Electronic Arts and Marvel have jointly agreed to discontinue development of Marvel fighting games under the Electronic Arts brand. This was a business decision based on Electronic Arts portfolio strategy and will not affect Marvel’s ongoing plans to release fighting games based on the Marvel properties in the future.

could the future fighting game be with Capcom?
Sigh... Well there's goes another game...
R.I.P dear Marvel fighting game
Marvel Vs Capcom 3 PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.
Or better yet.....
Marvel Vs. D.C. produced by capcom... a fan boy's wet dream.
God. I forgot they were planning another one with EA. Didn't they learn ANYTHING from Marvel Nemesis? Oh well, we dodged that bullet at least. Now just make nice with Capcom again, mmkay Marvel?
Essex, I forgot who exactly, but someone who was influential in the MvC series said he wanted to do another one. Here's hoping!
Marvel vs Capcom 3 would be amazing. Hopefully they'd fix Cable so he's no longer totally broken, though.
Count me in on hoping for a Marvel Vs Capcom Vs Cable 3 plz.
HYPER BEAM and the cheesy music put me off MvC2, so I'm skeptical about a 3.
My ideal Marvel based fighting game would be more Soul Calibur-esque, with DoA style scenery interaction to give it that comic book feel.
2D fighting has it's place, but with the current generation of graphics they could do wonders with Marvel characters.
