New Final Fantasy XIII Scans Reveal Gayest Summon Ever

New scans of Final Fantasy XIII, Versus XIII, and Agito XIII have shown up on the net, and although they're not too enlightening about how we're going to play the games, we do learn one thing: Carbuncle is now seriously adorable. Take a gander at that little guy - it looks like someone let their french bulldog puppy run loose in a drag queen's dressing room. I'm going to summon him all the time, even if I don't need healing, just because those little ruffles around his neck are darling.
As far as any story details, the text on the pages gives some hints:
Built by a great entity, it is a society floating in the sky, enclosed in a "shell" --- Cocoon. It flourishes, protected by the great machines and living creatures invented by the Crystal.
The inhabitants of Cocoon, in a long period of tranquility, fear infection from the outside.
Outside the shell, an underworld --- Pulse's entity awakens. Fearing this faceless invader, people begin to suspect one another, and hatred takes root.
Cocoon's government, wishing for stability, takes emergency measures. They arrest large numbers of citizens who were suspected of being "infected from the outside", and announced that they would be compelled to migrate to the underworld "Pulse". In reality, it meant banishment, but the fate which awaited them was even more cruel than that...
The crystal, a symbol of harmony, chose a person to whom to entrust destiny and lead the world.
She was chosen.
So, it sounds a little like Mass Effect, only more new-age-y, what with all the crystals and such. I can live with that.

People at some message boards are dissing the new Carbuncle, but I totally adore his looks.
Just wondering what kind of a machine he can turn into, if the transformation of the new Shiva to a motorcycle applies to all of the summons... ;D
I vastly prefer the FF8 Carbuncle.
Also, looks don't make anything gay.
Sami - I don't know how anyone can hate little Tammy Faye Barkker.
Nexus - I applaud your strident literalism, but blame my own biases - when it comes to a rainbow-colored, sparkle-y dog with giant gold earrings and a ruffle collar, I personally think that's gayer than two shirtless lumberjacks making out. Which I hope is also a summon at some point in the game.
Looks absolutely amazing - I can't wait!
Why is it that the recent young male protagonists created by Tetsuya Nomura (Roxas, FFXIII Vs guy) sport hairstyles popular among quite a few lesbians I know?
O_o
I also have a theory that the pigtailed girl is actually Lightning (the main charactress) in her younger years, before she went all rebellious and stuff.
After all, the text says that the crystals chose her to defend them against the tyranny of humankind - perhaps that FMV with the young girl is a depiction of that event?
But I should really save this rant to some message board for a proper debate. X)
i also agree with Nexus in saying that I do prefer FF8's carbuncle, but I must also disagree with him because this summon is pretty gay, the thing looks like if Shakespeare's Boston terrier decided to do drag. But I still love it nonetheless
Why did they put a Mardi Gras mask on Carbuncle?
I have a slight preference for 11's carbuncle, but that's because I'm one of those MMO weirdos
Carbuncle is my new hero. I will only take fashion advice from him, for now and forever.
