Cobalt Blue DS Lite Confirmed-ish

blueblackdslite.jpg

Earlier this month, Super Timsy reported on rumors that Nintendo was set to unveil a Cobalt Blue DS Lite, and now both GoNintendo and DS Fanboy have reported sitings of a cobalt blue and black DS Lite on CircuitCity.com. Sadly, the preorder page has since disappeared, but considering it was confirmed by both sources and an image was pulled from the ad, it's unlikely that Circuit City would go through all that trouble just to taunt gamers (although I wouldn't necessarily put it past them).

The system is similar to the Red/Black DS Lite that shipped out with Brain Age 2, although the new color does allow for folks to comment that a tough game has left their system "literally black and blue." Note to everyone: Please don't do that.

I actually like the blue, but not enough to replace my launch day DS. I haven't found a color scheme yet that's forced little Phatty out of my hands, and until the touch screen gives up the ghost or something really drops my jaw to the floor, I may just stick with it.

Interestingly, someone asked me about this while I was at work yesterday. It does indeed have a release date (in February, though I don't know exactly when). Granted that might change, a date so close means it's more or less confirmed.

Wonder if they'll release a game with it like they have done with the past three DSes.

It's pretty tacky looking. I'd rather it were a matt finish all-over blue. But I suppose thet aren't going for tasteful and understated.

I want to replace my big bulky DS with the gold Zelda one, but they never released it here in Belgium.
Does anyone know if they are still available in shops in England, because I'll be going to London in March and could possibly buy one then.

w00t! My DS broke so I need to replace it with a new one. I would have already if they were in stock anywhere in the UK!!! :) Anyway, the blue/black is more subtle than the red/black which imo was a bit chavvy.

To bad they probably wont ever release here in the UK...

yay! i think the only thing that can make me replace all of my gaming and mp3 paraphenalia sp? is if i replaced all the black with blue. i suppose this is about as close as i'm going to get to an all blue ds lite, plus it's a dark blue. me likey. now if only i could get an 80gb zune to match.

just a quick update, as far as i can tell, the release date for it should be on or around the tenth of february. our store already has some on order to be shipped to us.
