Xbox Live Video Store Arrives In The UK At Last

It's no big surprise to UK gamers that they're normally behind the US as far as games, movies and music releases go. So it's with great glee that Video Store has finally arrived on Xbox Live Marketplace in the UK, France, Germany, Ireland and Canada.
If you're too lazy to go to your local video store to rent out a movie, this is the perfect way of getting the films you want without moving from your sofa - almost. At present there are only around 27 titles available, mainly featuring movies that you've probably seen already, but it's a step forward and that's the main thing. Warner Brothers will be releasing another 17 films before the 7th of January including Unforgiven, Maverick, Contact, Miss Congeniality and Conspiracy Theory.
You can pick up the films for 250 MS points each for a standard definition movie or pay slightly more (380 MS points) for high def. This allows you to watch them within 24 hours of first starting to view them, or within 14 days of downloading - so it definitely is a rental experience, not a buying experience. Whether people will start using this in droves or not remains to be seen. At least the UK is catching up with the US as far as Xbox features go. Hopefully they'll start releasing some brand new releases to keep us interested.
